Prime Ministry Chief Advisor Dr. Ahmet Savaşan emphasized in a television program he attended today that among the primary goals of the National Unity Party led by Dr. Faiz Sucuoğlu is to ensure that disability is not seen as a “patient problem” but as a democracy and human rights issue.

We will be the hands, arms, eyes, ears of those who are different from us...

Underlining that the National Unity Party is determined to take the necessary steps to create a state structure in which information, education, training, health, transportation, rehabilitation, employment, social protection, funding systems, social protection, social policies, social policies and the necessary laws exist and are implemented in order to eliminate all kinds of discrimination, exclusion or restriction based on disability in front of the full and equal exercise or enjoyment of human rights and fundamental freedoms in economic, social, cultural, civil or any other field. Ahmet Savaşan said, “It is the common responsibility of all of us, especially politicians, to be the hands, arms, eyes and ears of those who are different from us, to make their lives easier, to make them feel good, to make them realize, to make them realize, to make them exist in social life. In the new term, I will do my part, like all our friends, to make all our special citizens feel this.”.

Special coronavirus precautions for people with disabilities are essential...

“When we look at the UN reports, we see that % 15 of the world population has a disability, the rate of disability over the age of 60 has reached % 46, 1 in 10 children live with a disability, and 1 in 5 women have a disability at some point in their lives. These figures are unfortunately parallel in our country,’ said Ahmet Savaşan, noting that the theme of the 2021 World Day of Persons with Disabilities is ’Fighting for rights in the post-COVID era’. Ahmet Savaşan pointed out that people with disabilities, who are already struggling with chronic diseases and experiencing various difficulties in accessing adequate health services due to their economic vulnerability, are also negatively affected by the pandemic process. Savaşan said, ’We will solve the problems faced by our disabled people. Our disabled people want to be understood, not commemorated on special days. We will achieve this,” he said.
